This week’s NBA Power Rankings will surely be one to remember! Check it out!
Ungrateful Moments in the NBA
It’s common to talk about things NBA teams are grateful for at this time of year, so why don’t we talk about a few things that teams are ungrateful for instead? The Los Angeles Lakers are certainly ungrateful for Franz Wagner, who ripped their hearts out with a game-winning step-back 3-pointer that started L.A.’s three-game losing streak. As a result, the Lakers (who were coming off a six-game winning streak) are the biggest fallers of the week, dropping eight spots to No. 14. The Houston Rockets – Fred VanVleet in particular – are ungrateful for the officiating crew in this weekend’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. VanVleet went a little over the top during an epic ejection tirade, but the Rockets are still riding high as they move to No. 4 in this week’s rankings. Houston has started strong this season, though the team remains a longshot to win the Western Conference. The Rockets have +2400 odds to win their conference, per FanDuel sportsbook. And then there are the Denver Nuggets, who may or may not be ungrateful to their coach, Michael Malone, for calling them out after an embarrassing blowout loss at home to the New York Knicks. Whenever a coach invokes the whole “don’t want to be here” trope, you know you’re in trouble! The Knicks, meanwhile, have the fourth-best odds to win the NBA Finals, per FanDuel, at +1000.
Top Teams and Notable Moves
In an interesting twist, the Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, L.A. Clippers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and Milwaukee Bucks each moved up exactly four spots this week! That’s quite a feat, right?
